Kontera’s Top Clicked Keywords: Swimming Now Beats Basketball

August 20, 2008

Everyone knows that top clicked Keywords and the current search trends usually go hand in hand. It’s always interesting to see which words get all the attention in a given week. That’s why we’ve decided to publish a series of posts about Kontera’s most clickable keywords.

Of course, the most generic keywords like computer, car, mobile phone, news -are always under the limelight- this is nothing new. But every now and then, we run into some surprises.

Take the Sports niche for example: the word “Basketball” always attracts a massive amount of clicks. However, during the last week it seems like the Beijing Olympic Games and Phelps’ astounding performance have turned the spotlight from the court to the pool. The word “Swimming” has surpassed “Basketball”, but even Phelps can’t beat “Football.”

Check out the table below for some of last week’s top performers. We’ve collected the most interesting categories and maybe you’ll find some tips here…Stay tuned for the next posts in this series.

Nothing like an American Olympic Gold medal to stir interest in a sport.
If only we could predict next weeks news we would know which keywords to focus on :-)

Is this going to be a regular weekly post with spotlights of popular keywords we might not have otherwise thought of? That would be worth a special category to receive updates on!

Just shows how spontaneous people are and it would be great if we could predict the next wave of intrest.

  10. Ravish says:

    Hi,

Can any one tell me how change or add the keywords in Kontera.

  11. mika says:

    Hello Ravish,

This is a very important question.
Most popular keywords are subject to change along with recent trends. As is the case with most in-text ad networks, there is no way to change or add keywords directly to your Kontera campaign. Still, as a publisher, you have the ability to meet the popular trends in order to have your site’s monetary potential grow.

    I hope this helps,
