Again, you’ve eaten too much!

January 11, 2010

You’ve eaten too much…and we know this based on our networks top clicked keywords for the holiday season.

It’s no secret that the holidays were in full force, with words like recipe, meal plan, menu, filling our dinner tables, bellies, and manifesting themselves right on our computer monitors.  With Rachel Ray, surpassing all other big names, it seems we even like our celebs to be all about the food.

Fitness, running , and workout plans are on the top of the list to try to cancel out the excessive eating.  And as we all know, drinking water and watching your nutrition intake will help jump start your diet.

In addition to eating and exercising, we can clearly see that people were traveling in style this holiday season with our travel segment of keywords getting quite a bit of attention.  Looks like chartered yachts, planes, trains, and trails were popular means to arrive at your dream destination–anything from the beach, national parks, campgrounds, hotels, hiking, and luxury cruises.

We will keep you posted on 2010’s top keywords, but with everyone back to their full productivity, be sure to focus on blackberry, iphone, and applications as these are winner keywords from what we’ve seen so far this month.

Top Clicked KeyWords: What do District 9, Tiger Woods and Woodstock Have In Common?

August 18, 2009

Our top clicked Keywords list provides an interesting glimpse into what terms are in the center of attention over the past few weeks. From Finance news to best selling gadgets and hot trends, you can be sure that these Keywords will cover them all.

HippieCamperThe last two weeks of summer are bound to spark the travel bug in all of us and people are getting restless to take one more trip before school starts again.  Cruising, flying, and luxury hotels—anything goes, and ‘Travel’ related keywords are more attractive than ever.

In ‘Sports’ it’s been a dramatic summer on one of golf’s majors – the ‘PGA Championship’ – as Y.E. Yang, beat none other than the sport’s No. 1 guy – ‘Tiger Woods’. To those of us who are looking for a different type of sporting thrills the ‘UFC’ provided a good viewing alternative to Golf.

Award winning show ‘Mad Men’ is back and it’s more clickable than ever. That said, it takes a lot more than Madison Avenue advertisers or the ‘District 9′ aliens to move ‘Vanessa Hudgens’ from her place at the top of the ‘Entertainment’ category. The 40th anniversary of the ‘Woodstock Festival’ generated a lot of click-love and what better way to bring summer to a close than by listening to some great music while wearing flowers in your hair?

Top Clicked Keywords: On Virtual Makeovers & The Transformers

July 02, 2009

making money bloggingKontera’s top clicked keywords list for this month is ready for launch :)   We’ve selected a few top categories that have amassed a large number of clicks to see which terms have received the most attention.  Many publishers who are making money blogging, utilize these lists to help gain focus for their blog writing efforts.

“Virtual makeover” has fairly won its top place on the list this month with a high number of clicks and lots of coverage.  I find virtual  makeover sites to be a great invention.  Not only are they fun to play with, but they can also serve as preventive medicine for impulsive real-life makeovers.  They relieve something of that need to just be spontaneous today and dye my hair magenta.  Or encourage it.

Cooking & Dining category has brought up some surprises.  A nice cooling breeze amidst the summer comes with keyword “gazpacho recipe”- the timing is just right.  Along with it, but thankfully unrelated, keyword “dog treat recipe” has jumped to the top, and if you are making money blogging, you may want to consider this one.  Have a look for some homemade treats; your dog will definitely appreciate it.

This month Entertainment category includes “Transformers”, all in less than two weeks of release, we already hear that “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is on the verge of becoming the highest-grossing pic of the year at the worldwide box office.

Top Clicked Keywords: From Wolverine to Space Shuttle Atlantis

May 21, 2009

space-shuttle-22009 has already seen its fair share of dramatic events and we’re not even half way through yet… Recent days have stirred up much fascination across the globe with two news stories unfolding something of humanity’s link to the past and to the future.  The launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis has made an appearance in our current events category attracting many, many interested clicks to those who choose to make money with blogs. Could also have something to do with Star Trek’s box office popularity :) …  Another incredible scientific achievement is the uncovering of Ida, an ancient primate fossil, 47-million years of age, believed to form a crucial “missing link” between our own evolutionary branch and the rest of the animal kingdom.  Over the past few days “Fossil” has turned into a very popular, clicked term.

“Olivia Wilde” represents yet another hot keyword, the “House” star who tops Maxim magazines annual “Hot 100″ list is also dominating our Entertainment category. Congratulations to Kris Allen on coming in first on season 8 of “American Idol,” even though yesterday was the season finale we’re certain  this show will continue to receive a lot of click attention. “Wolverine” is our most clickable movie and “Blink 182″ upcoming reunion tour is also starring on the list.

There are many more interested trends manifested in our top clicked Keyword list some are seasonal like “Mother’s Day” and “Prom dresses” while others maintain a constant click appeal – “New iphone” is a sure bet as the electronics topic always fares well among publishers who make money with blogs.

Top Clicked Keywords: About Education, American Idol and Everything in Between

April 02, 2009

Kontera Keywords

We’ve been examining our latest “top clicked keywords” list to find out which terms have been in the limelight over the past few weeks. As always, we try to present a taste of the keywords that have been most popular lately in a handful of our content categories.

We’ll begin with the conclusion… The  ‘Beauty & Apparel’ and ‘Employment’ categories are gaining popularity.  This is a comforting conclusion if you think about it.  It comes to show that even in difficult times, we still find ways to focus on what matters most: bathing suit season.

Another category that has received more attention recently is ‘Education’; click-wise it came close to the always popular ‘Entertainment’ category.  While we’re on the entertainment rant, American Idol is coming to a season’s close and not surprisingly, Adam Lambert has landed a spot on our list’s final cut.

As mentioned above, this post series highlights a set of keyword category each month. This list is open to your suggestions- we aim to present keywords from the categories you find most useful.  If there’s a category that you’d like to see included in our next keyword post, please leave a comment here or drop an email at blog@kontera.com

And now, we are glad to present this month’s list:

Kontera’s Top Clicked Keywords: All About Love, Car Races & Swimsuits

February 23, 2009

It’s time for the Top Clicked Keywords post again and the list, including some nice surprises, is out and ready to show.

Heart

If keywords are an indication of the general atmosphere at any given time, then Love is definitely in the air throughout this recent period. We say this as we note that Holidays & Special Occasions category rocked the charts with “Valentine’s Day” related keywords. As always, most people choose to “send roses” when striving to show that special someone how much they really care.

Anything or anyone that has to do with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue was a huge click generator, these include race car driver and model, Danica Patrick, who’s featured in this issue and has generated the most clicks in the “Sports” category. The 200-lap, 500 mile-long Daytona 500 NASCAR race, came in third, so yes; swimsuits and race cars are a winning combination.

The winter season is characterized by the tendency to pack on a few extra pounds; it’s hardly surprising that when the cold season comes to a wrap the “Health” category is dominated by “weight loss”, “diet plan”, and the “Mediterranean diet”.

In the “Computing & Internet” category, Microsoft’s important release of the Windows 7 beta has generated a lot of interest but still the click-through-rates for “Windows XP” and “windows vista” are higher.

Kontera’s Top Clicked Keywords: I See a “Red Carpet” in Your “Horoscope”

January 15, 2009

It’s time for our top clicked keyword report again:

“iphone” is always a top-clicked keyword in the Consumer Electronics category, but as the holiday shopping proved, “Nintendo wii” is a strong contender for first place in this particular niche.

“The Pussycat Dolls” are going on a European tour with Lady Gaga, if clicks are any indication tickets are probably sold out. It’s twin girls for “Rebecca Romijn” and husband Jerry O’Connell, and this happy news generated many clicks for the “Ugly Betty” actress. It’s the award season so it’s hardly surprising that “red carpet” and “Golden Globe Award” are topping the clickable keyword list in the Entertainment category.

A new year is always filled with promise and hopes and apparently it’s a season that attracts good business for astrologers… The Society & Culture category is dominated by astrology related keywords with many users interested in a prediction of how 2009 will unfold.

Against the backdrop of Facebook’s “breast feeding” controversy, we’ve witnessed a rise in this keyword’s popularity within the Health category. But can you speculate what sparked the sudden popularity of “face lift” in January?

Kontera’s Top Clicked Keywords: Is Oscar De La Hoya More Clickable than Jennifer Aniston?

December 11, 2008

Taking a look at top clicked keywords is lots of fun, trying to figure out what exactly made one term turn popular over night sometimes feels like playing detective. So, with no further ado, here are some of Kontera’s top clicked keywords over the last week.

In Sports, “boxing” and “Oscar De La Hoya” get a lot of attention following the latter’s recent loss to Manny Pacquiao. Other popular keywords in this category are “college football” and “cricket.” With regards to “cricket” it’s interesting to note that it now correlates with a top clicked term from the News category, “Mumbai.”  This happens as England’s Cricket Team is preparing to return to India for the Test Series, and its players have announced they’ll donate half their match fees to the victims of the Mumbai terror attack.

In the Entertainment category several celebrities are getting a lot of click-love. “Michael Caine” recently revealed the real ending of The Italian Job on the eve of the film’s 40th anniversary. Guess that playing Alfred in The Dark Knight, adds more interest in light of the upcoming Academy Awards. “Jennifer Aniston” now promotes her soon to be released new film, and her personal life always draws a lot of attention.

The implications of the economic situation are also reflected, as Keywords relating to the “Employment” category are getting more clicks than before. On a happier note, Christmas spirit is already here, with most top clicked Keywords in the Holidays & Special Occasions category directly related to the most wonderful time of the year (we’ll tell you more about this in a special Christmas report).

Where will you be spending your Christmas vacation?
Well, if Travel category keywords are any indication, many of us are thinking about a “ski vacation…”

Kontera’s Top Clicked Keywords; From Politics To Beyonce

October 16, 2008

To be a successful marketer, one must know how to move with the trend, change with the current fashion. A quick look at the top search keywordsmost clicked keywords of any week reveals all sorts of interesting facts on what’s popular these days and where public attention is turned.

As promised, we are delivering the next in a keyword report series:

Not surprisingly, matters of finance and politics are now winning more clicks than at any other time in the past year (though we cannot show the actual number of clicks, we can definitely show rank).
On another note, Beyonce just turned into an ultra popular keyword and a quick look in Google reveals (to those of us who aren’t so MTV savvy) that her new singles are freshly released.  And of course, “Halloween” is climbing its way to the top, no tricks ;)

As we well know, some keywords never get old.  For example, in apparel beauty, keyword “hairstyle” always remains at the top.  “Free downloads”, of course, always wins a place at top of computing category.

Kontera’s Top Clicked Keywords: Swimming Now Beats Basketball

August 20, 2008

Everyone knows that top clicked Keywords and the current search trends usually go hand in hand. It’s always interesting to see which words get all the attention in a given week. That’s why we’ve decided to publish a series of posts about Kontera’s most clickable keywords.

Of course, the most generic keywords like computer, car, mobile phone, news -are always under the limelight- this is nothing new. But every now and then, we run into some surprises.

Take the Sports niche for example: the word “Basketball” always attracts a massive amount of clicks. However, during the last week it seems like the Beijing Olympic Games and Phelps’ astounding performance have turned the spotlight from the court to the pool. The word “Swimming” has surpassed “Basketball”, but even Phelps can’t beat “Football.”

Check out the table below for some of last week’s top performers. We’ve collected the most interesting categories and maybe you’ll find some tips here…Stay tuned for the next posts in this series.
